Quality Grading Systems Definitions

 Flawless:

 No internal inclusions or external blemishes visible. *
(Federal Trade Commission Rule #23.10 Paragraph a.).

 Internally Flawless:

 No internal inclusions visible, but minor surface blemishes (such as wheel marks, small naturals on the girdle, or small scratches) would be evident. *

 VVS-1 & VVS-2:

 Very, very slight inclusions evident but difficult to locate. *

 VS-1 & VS-2:

 Very slight inclusions evident, more easily seen. *

 SI:1 & SI-2:

 Slight inclusions readily seen under magnification but invisible to the unaided eye.*

 Imperfect - #1:

 Inclusions just visible to the unaided eye of an expert. *

 Imperfect - #2: 

 Inclusions easily seen by the unaided eye of an expert. *

  Imperfect - #3:  

Inclusions large and easily seen.*

 
* All examinations take place under 10x magnification utilizing an eye loupe or similar magnifier by an expert in the field.
